Sherwood Parks and Recreation

Sherwood is a family oriented community, nestled in a forested backdrop with rolling hills of fertile farmland and area vineyards that dot the countryside.  The city life is also no different.  The town of Sherwood echos the natural beauty that surrounds it.  Lush green space, walking paths, the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, scenic bike routes and public parks sprinkled all throughout the City of Sherwood is complimented by enough outdoor recreation for those who choose an active lifestyle.

Snyder Park

Located at: 15365 SW Sunset Boulevard

While some call Snyder Park, Sunset Park they’re both one in the same.  Snyder Park is a newer park and one of the largest in Sherwood.  It’s conveniently located just off of Sunset Blvd.  This park consists of basketball courts, tennis courts, a baseball field and a soccer field with artificial turf.  Snyder park also boasts a large covered area with several picnic tables – perfect for an afternoon party.  There’s also walking trails that meander through the park, park benches, picnic tables and lots of level areas covered in green grass to roll out a blanket.  Snyder Park was carefully designed with all ages in mind.  With state of the art play structures and a miniature water park with a spacious sand pit framed artistically by large concrete sitting areas, this entire public park is meant for those who enjoy a multitude of things to do or simply wishes to relax with a good book in the sun.  Views from Snyder Park and the Sherwood homes and neighborhoods that surround it are also breathtaking.

Stella Olsen Park

located at: 22256 SW Washington Street

Stella Olsen Park is beautiful destination located at the heart of Sherwood. With approximately 22 acres, this community park boasts nature trails and a forested backdrop with charming characteristics that run along Cedar Creek making it a local attraction that summons photographers from near and far.  Many Sherwood events throughout the year take place main stage at the Amphitheater.  Summer performances such as Music on the Green, Movies in the Park and annual productions put on by Sherwood Foundation for the Arts.  Stella Olsen is filled with native species and offers an environment to contemplate the personal relationship we have with nature.  Stella Olsen Park in Sherwood offers a large play area with swings, slide and play structure, picnic tables, large grass area to play, a newly built bathroom area and is conveniently located within walking distance to modern conveniences such as shops, restaurants and churches in Old Town Sherwood.

Pioneer Park

Located at: 20570 SW Jonquil Terrace

Tucked within an established Sherwood neighborhood with easy access to Roy Rogers Road, Pioneer Park has approximately 2 acres of forest land and lush open lawn.  At the center it features a covered shelter for rainy day recreation.  Along with the play park area, there’s also a basketball court.

Langer Park

Located at: 15990 Century Drive

Maintained by Sherwood Village neighborhood, a community consisting of nearly all one level homes, this community park provides an open park setting..  Featuring a play structure, walking and bike path that meanders through the park. Large spanning green way provides ample space to play.

Murdock Park

Located at: 22965 SW Upper Roy Street

A well maintained Sherwood park abundant in landscaping,  Murdock Park is located among a neighborhood of established Sherwood homes providing an open grass play area, play structure, swing set and a picnic shelter.  With walking paths providing access from multiple areas of the park, there’s also a pond with resident ducks and a viewing dock to enjoy the nature scape.

Oregon Trail Park

Located at: 20710 SW Settlement Drive

A fun park and peaceful setting between Sante Fe Terrace and Settlement Drive sits Oregon Trail Park in Sherwood’s desirable Oregon Trail subdivision.  Surrounded by mostly one level homes, all within walking distance from Sherwood’s new Edy and Laurel Ridge School district.  Featured here is a play structure and open lawn area providing a safe and enjoyable area for the neighborhood children to play.

Cinnamon Hills Park

Located at: 23143 SW Cinnamon Hills Place

Neighborhood residents and the City of Sherwood worked on a collaborative effort to offer this mini-park.  The play lot includes a swing, play structure and benches along with ample green space.  A quaint setting that’s perfect for the residents and the children of this Sherwood neighborhood.

Arbor Terrace Park

Located in the Arbor Terrace, a walking community constructed near the outdoor shopping plaza which includes a Target sits the Arbor Terrace Park.  A covered sitting area, park and common space shared by neighbors rests behind a wrought iron fence.  Arbor Terrace provides a cheerful place for children to play.

Woodhaven Park

Located at: 17375 Sunset Boulevard

The Park located in the Woodhaven neighborhood sits just across from the Woodhaven Village Townhome community, just off Sunset and Pinehurst.  The park offers a large sidewalk area, grass to play toss, a sandbox and play structure.  Nicely landscaped with bursts of season color at the entrance, Woodhaven Park is also known for the yellow Tonka Trucks that line the sandbox, left behind as part of an honor system for kids to enjoy during afternoon play dates.

Veterans Park

Located at: 22547 SW Main Street

The central focus for the Sherwood Historical Society, Sherwood Festivals, Arts and Crafts Fairs, Cruisin’ Sherwood, and the Robin Hood Festival, Veteran’s Park is surrounded by large trees, benches and picnic tables that allow for small group activities.

Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge

Located at: 19255 SW Pacific Hwy

Natures park is abundant at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge.  A haven for wildlife and people, visitors can come learn about the refuge’s wildlife, habitats and how they tie into the National Wildlife Refuge system.  The Refuge features a large exhibit hall, indoor and outdoor viewing areas and non-profit nature store / gift shop that’s run by Friends of the Refuge.  With activities and festivals running throughout the year, make time to visit the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge and the nearly 200 species of birds, over 50 species of mammals, 25 species of reptiles and amphibians, and a wide variety of insects, fish and plants that call it home.

Indoor Play Areas Around Sherwood

Some of the indoor play areas around Sherwood include, the Sherwood Regional YMCA, Indoor Soccer Park, Sherwood Ice Arena and Safari Sam’s.
